Brotogeris is a genus of eight small mostly green parakeets. Some are kept as pets, such as the Grey-cheeked Parakeets and and Canary-winged Parakeets. Canary winged parakeet are becoming more common because the Grey-cheeked parakeets are considered hard to breed. They are small, about the size of a Parrotlet. Wild Brotogeris parrots live in most of South America and are Least concern on the IUCN Red list but the Grey-cheeked Parakeet is considered Endangered because of deforestation and trapping for pets.
