Ara


      The Ara genus has eight species. The Blue and gold macaw is considered least concern on the IUCN red list but their population is decreasing. They are The Scarlet Macaw is considered least concern but their population is also decreasing. The Green-wing Macaw is also least concern and is decreasing in population. The Military Macaw is Vulnerable and their population is decreasing. The Blue-throated macaw is Critically Endangered but is stable. The Red-fronted macaw is Critically Endangered and their population is decreasing.  The Buffon's macaw is Endangered and their population is decreasing. The Chestnut - Fronted Macaw is Least Concern but the their population is decreasing. The Chestnut mcaw is also called the Severe Macaw. They are mini macaws but they are not as small as the Hahns Macaw.

 
       All can be kept as pets, but the Blue and Gold Macaw is the most common along with the Scarlet, and the Green-wing Macaw.  You can find Blue and Gold Macaws here. The Blue Throated Macaw is also common as a pet even though they are critically endangered in the wild.  You can find them here. The larger cousin of the Military Macaw, the Buffon's Macaw is much rarer than the Military Macaw. Because they are larger than the Military Macaw they are also sometimes called the Grand Military Macaw. You can find them here.
